El Paso Independent School District has rebranded and consolidated the former Johnson Elementary and Morehead Middle Schools as Charles Q. Murphree PK-8 School. This school is a part of the El Paso Independent School District and serves 774 students in Pre-K through 8th grade. The school takes its name from long-time educator Charles Q. Murphree, who dedicated more than 30 years to the children of this community and was the longtime principal of Coronado High School. Murphree is also known for advocating for teachers to have appropriate materials to create positive learning environments.
Working on this renovation and consolidation, ASA Architects Schools, Huckabee Architects and Dantex General Contractors understood that schools have many different areas, all with diverse needs. From classrooms to cafeterias, each area demands its own unique requirements but the need for lasting value is always there. ASA Architects was searching for a flooring system for the cafeteria that is low maintenance and would eliminate the amount of cleaning chemicals hassle needed like with VCT flooring.
“ASA Architects specified Altro Orchestra for this project due to its seamless installation, low maintenance, sound reduction and comfort within the school areas which was especially needed for common spaces like the cafeteria.” Enrique Escobedo, ASA Architects
The constant presence of food and beverages, as well as moving tables, chairs and plenty of foot traffic requires a unique combination of products to meet the demanding needs of busy cafeterias. Altro Orchestra has been engineered to create the ideal environment to learn and live. This range offers comfort underfoot, making life easier on the feet of students, teachers and hard-working staff who spend countless hours on the move.
Recognizing the evolving nature of education, Altro offers a range of high-quality flooring products designed specifically for schools. With Altro Orchestra installed, the new Charles Q. Murphree PK-8 School not only meets the current demands of its diverse spaces but also allows for flexibility to accommodate inevitable changes in the future.
