In their pursuit of creating a supportive environment for those facing advancing illnesses, as well as for families and friends navigating the loss of a loved one, the team at Checkwitch Poiron Architects specified Altro Whiterock, Altro Whiterock wall designs and Altro Whiterock PopArt. In response to evolving trends in healthcare design, the intent for this hospice home was to move away from the traditional sterile look of older patient rooms and emphasize calming and welcoming atmospheres to create more supportive environments.
The incorporation of brighter, more optimistic colors aims to create a therapeutic ambiance. Extensive research has shown that the use of realistic artwork can significantly reduce patient anxiety and agitation. Furthermore, the integration of biophilic elements, such as the Altro Whiterock wall designs, brings the outdoors indoors, utilizing wood and other natural finishes to serve as a positive calming atmosphere for individuals of all ages.
Altro Whiterock wall designs not only combine durability, hygiene, and resilience through Altro Whiterock wall panels but also offer striking patterns in an attractive palette of wood, linen, and concrete visuals. These decorative wall panels are chosen to enhance even the most inspirational front-of-house settings, ensuring a welcoming and aesthetically pleasing environment.
In the children’s play area, Altro Whiterock PopArt was installed. These digitally printed wall panels enable the hospice to reproduce custom images and artwork onto Altro Whiterock wall panels. In this case, combining custom vector line drawings with a Gloss+ film to inspire creativity and play.
Altro Whiterock was selected for all patient washroom and shower areas to create a calming, spa-like environment rather than a typical sterile healthcare washroom. Altro Whiterock is also impact-resistant, grout-free and easy to clean.
The hospice home’s thoughtful integration of Altro Whiterock, Altro Whiterock wall designs and Altro Whiterock PopArt not only enhances the physical environment but also contributes to a holistic approach in providing compassionate and comforting endof-life care to both patients and their loved ones.
