Bosch Thermotechnology Ltd is an industrial leader in heating and hot water products. With over 13,000 employees and a turnover of more than €3 billion, it has offices in nine countries worldwide. In spring 2016 Bosch Thermotechnology refurbished the canteen in the company’s headquarters in Wetzlar. The cooking, dishwashing and food preparation areas needed new floors and wall surfaces. Safety, hygiene and functionality were important criteria. Tiles had been used previously and the company was looking for an alternative.
“We were looking for a system that was joint-free, waterproof and easy to clean,” said Arnd Krauss from the Bosch Thermotechnology Facilities Management department.
Arnd Krauss researched alternatives on the internet. In his search he discovered Altro, the market leader of safety flooring and hygienic wall cladding. Altro’s products are one of the few worldwide flooring and walling products that have been certified by HACCP International for use in a food environment.
In commercial kitchens work safety and hygiene are important. It was decided to install Altro Stronghold 30. Altro Stronghold 30 achieves Altro’s highest rating for slip resistance (PTV ≥55, R12) and is designed to minimise risk in areas exposed to grease, oils and fats for the lifetime of the flooring. As well as helping to keep staff safe from slips, it also helps reduce their fatigue, thanks to its 3mm thickness which provides noise reduction and comfort underfoot. Combine Altro Stronghold 30 with Altro Whiterock hygienic wall cladding to create a safe and hygienic environment in commercial and industrial kitchens.
Altro Whiterock Satins hygienic wall cladding complements the flooring. The two products can be welded to create a waterproof, impervious system with a wipeable surface that is easy to clean with water and a commercial cleaner. It leaves no where for bacteria to hide. The food safe PVCu polymer withstands temperatures up to 60°C and meets all current EU directives on health and hygiene.
“Overall, we have 260m² floor and 380m² wall installed with Altro solutions,” explains Arnd Krauss. “We were able to choose from 14 wallcovering colours and 27 floor designs. We chose Monsoon, a light gray, which is a nice contrast to the satin white of the wallcovering.”
