Get it right first-time round – how to ensure your bathroom installation runs smoothly

Bathrooms and wet rooms are incredibly important areas in any environment, be it a care home or hospital where residents, patients and staff need safety and practicality, or a hotel or housing development where design and functionality need to work hand in hand. They can all present various challenges.

The importance of a proper installation is key – it’s not just about selecting the right products, it is also about using the right adhesive, welding correctly, and using the right fixtures, fittings, and sealants.

Key points to note:

  • Use moisture tolerant adhesive suitable for plasticised vinyl flooring
  • All joints need hot welding, including the corners
  • Use the correct capping strip
  • Ensure you have a good quality cove former
  • Cut flooring to the right height
  • Taper the skirting to meet the architrave around doors
  • For drains always use a clamping gulley, making sure you don’t cut the floor short
  • Use a clear sealant to finish off

And if you have any doubts or need further guidance, Altro's technical services teams are here to help you, wherever you are. They have detailed knowledge of substrate technology and any possible issues that might arise. They can offer you solutions and information on different installation techniques.

While we supply detailed installation guides for many of our products, they are no substitute for a real hands-on demonstration, which is why we also run four training schools.

Our in-house training will show you the correct way to install our products and provide extra little hints and tips that have been picked up by our experienced instructors.
