Centrally located in Berlin, the redesigned Berlin Ostkreuz youth hostel offers its guests modern facilities in a contemporary design. With 445 beds, 17 classrooms, a large auditorium and rooms for meetings and training courses, the youth hostel is the destination for individual travellers as well as seminar organizers. Due to the heavy traffic, the interior needed to be robust and hard-wearing as well as hygienic.
After the conversion of the former technical college into a youth hostel, Jacob Geditz, Managing Director of the youth hostel Berlin Ostkreuz, was looking for a durable and investment-safe solution for the floor. In the course of the renovation, a total of 6,000m² of Altro Ensemble was installed. With a natural wood look, Altro Ensemble creates a sense of wellbeing in the bedrooms, seminar rooms and the large meeting room.

With 57 options to mix and match, the modular flooring system has natural wood and stone designs and bloc colours too.
Altro Ensemble is 2.6mm thick with a 0.55mm wear layer, 15dB sound reduction qualities and added comfort underfoot, with minimal residual indentation and excellent durability.
